About the Role

As an Architect at Johns Hopkins University, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing both major and minor capital projects for the Bloomberg School of Public Health. You will be responsible for planning, space use analysis, design development, and ensuring that all projects align with the university’s standards and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Analysis: Conduct thorough evaluations of existing building systems to provide recommendations regarding design, functionality, and performance.
  • Project Oversight: Participate in design and construction meetings to ensure adherence to university standards, providing technical direction and guidance.
  • Design Standards Development: Collaborate with various stakeholders to establish design standards that reflect best practices and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Construction Monitoring: Review construction progress to ensure quality assurance and compliance with contract documents, assisting in conflict resolution as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture is required, with a Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Ten years of experience in architectural planning and design, along with a Professional Architect license in Maryland or a state with reciprocity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LEED Accreditation: Familiarity with sustainable design practices is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in BIM software, SketchUp, and other graphic design programs is a plus.
