Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is on the lookout for a talented Design & Construction Project Manager to join their Planning, Design & Construction team. This role is critical in overseeing a variety of capital projects that support the university’s mission and enhance its facilities.

Position Overview

As a Design & Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing project budgets, schedules, and scope statements, handling everything from preparation of construction estimates to execution and oversight of consultant and contractor activities. This position involves managing projects that range from $5,000 to $5,000,000, all while working under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Design and Construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely execution of minor and major capital projects.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with design consultants, contractors, and university personnel to resolve design and construction matters.
  • Documentation Review: Prepare and review design documents and status reports, maintaining clear communication regarding project costs and schedules.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor contractor work quality and compliance with contract documents, addressing any issues that arise during construction.
  • Bid Management: Solicit competitive bids from contractors, evaluate proposals, and make recommendations for project execution.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
  • Experience: At least five years of construction or project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles, project and contract administration, and building codes.
  • Experience in designing and constructing research laboratory facilities.
  • Proficiency in using software applications such as spreadsheets and CAD.
