Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is seeking a talented Architect to join the Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) team within the Bloomberg School of Public Health Facilities Management Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant capital projects that shape the future of the university’s facilities.
Position Overview
As an Architect at JHU, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive planning, design development, and oversight for various capital projects. You will work under the supervision of the Associate Director of Planning, Design & Construction, playing a crucial role in enhancing the university’s infrastructure and supporting its mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Analysis: Conduct technical assessments of existing architectural systems to inform design recommendations and enhance performance.
- Design Oversight: Participate in design and construction meetings to ensure compliance with university standards and contract conditions.
- Project Leadership: Oversee and evaluate capital project designs, providing technical direction in line with the school’s standards and policies.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with BSPH staff, external consultants, and stakeholders to develop and document design standards that align with university goals.
- Quality Assurance: Review construction work to ensure quality and adherence to contract documents, assisting in resolving any discrepancies that arise.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Experience: At least 10 years of experience in architectural planning and design work, with a professional architect license in Maryland or a state with reciprocity.
Preferred Qualifications
- LEED Accreditation is desirable.
- Proficiency in BIM software, SketchUp, Photoshop, and other graphics programs.
