Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is actively seeking a Design & Construction Project Manager to join its Planning, Design & Construction team. This role is ideal for professionals passionate about managing construction projects in a dynamic academic environment.
Role Overview
As a Design & Construction Project Manager, you will oversee a variety of capital projects ranging from $5,000 to $5,000,000. Your responsibilities will include developing project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work, as well as managing the execution and coordination of consultant and contractor activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and scopes of work statements. You will handle project construction estimates and manage activities on both minor and major capital projects.
- Collaboration: Maintain communication with design consultants, contractors, users, and in-house personnel. You’ll interact with faculty, directors, and administrators across various organizational levels.
- Documentation Review: Review and prepare documentation related to design documents from consultants, ensuring that projects meet JHU standards.
- Bid Solicitation: Solicit competitive bids from contractors, evaluate proposals, and make recommendations to the Assistant Director of Project Management.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with quality standards and contract documents.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering.
- Five years of experience in construction or project management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of architectural and engineering principles, project and contract administration, and construction materials.
- Experience in designing and constructing research laboratory facilities.
- Proficiency in software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, and CAD.
Work Environment and Benefits
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site presence 3-4 days a week at the School of Public Health. The starting salary range is $73,300 to $128,300 annually, depending on experience. JHU also provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee health, life, and career development.
