About the Position
The Research Engineer will work on innovative projects that leverage data to explore critical issues such as:
- The migration of older populations.
- The impacts of sustainability-related employment networks on governance outcomes.
You will utilize resources like LinkedIn data to analyze employment networks and their implications, as well as investigate migration networks of older Americans and the factors influencing these trends.
Key Responsibilities
As a Research Engineer, your tasks will include:
- Reviewing relevant literature to inform research directions.
- Collecting, cleaning, and analyzing various data sets.
- Preparing research reports and applications for funding.
- Conducting network analysis and employing big data analytics to fit models.
You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of scholars across disciplines such as economics, sociology, and engineering, and potentially co-author academic papers based on your contributions.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, data science, computational social science, or a related field by January 2025.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills.
- A passion for the research topics mentioned above.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Motivation and ability to work independently.
- Statistical knowledge and competence in at least one programming language (R, Stata, or Python).
- Experience in literature reviews and data analysis.
Preferred Skills
- Excellent communication skills, including experience in conducting interviews in English.
- Background in interdisciplinary collaborations and research.
- Experience using network analysis methods and large-scale data sets, such as smartphone or administrative data.
