Position Overview
Job Title: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor
- Location: Faculty of Built Environment, Tampere University
- Contract Duration: The initial appointment for Assistant and Associate Professors is five years, with the possibility of tenure upon successful performance. Full Professors will have permanent appointments from the start.

Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a PhD in Civil Engineering who have expertise in at least three of the following areas:
- Materials: Knowledge of road and railway structure materials, including unbound, bituminous bound, and circular materials.
- Performance Analysis: Understanding the short- and long-term performance of transport infrastructures.
- Experimental Research: Conducting laboratory experiments and monitoring full-scale infrastructure.
- Data Analysis: Analyzing large datasets from condition monitoring of transport infrastructures.
- Sustainability: Evaluating life-cycle efficiency and sustainability in infrastructure construction and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Lead a research group focused on road and/or railway structures.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to transport infrastructures.
- Supervise B.Sc., M.Sc., and D.Sc. theses.
Qualifications
Requirements for Each Level:
- Assistant Professor:
- Ability to undertake independent scholarly activities.
- Teaching skills necessary to fulfill the position’s duties.
- Associate Professor:
- Record of independent scholarship and external research funding.
- Experience in leading a research group.
- Professor:
- High-level scholarly expertise and international achievement.
- Proven experience in leading scientific research.
All candidates must have a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and demonstrate methodological skills in transport infrastructure research. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Finnish is an advantage.
