Research Focus
The PhD student will be involved in the CityFish project, which aims to explore aquaculture practices in urban settings, particularly in Hanoi, Vietnam. The project investigates the following:
- The impact of urban pollution on aquaculture farms and their contribution to the environment.
- The relationship between aquaculture, food systems, and human health, particularly concerning antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
- How farmers navigate and adapt to the challenges of living and producing in a polluted urban landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth qualitative interviews with aquaculture farmers and related stakeholders.
- Analyze farming practices and their implications for health and environmental management.
- Develop a theoretical and methodological framework that draws from various fields such as sociology, political ecology, and critical food studies.
Qualifications
Required Criteria
Candidates should have:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in fields such as Geography, Architecture, or Sociology.
- Interest in interdisciplinary research and a passion for environmental issues.
Language Proficiency
- Basic knowledge of French is preferred, as it will be beneficial for fieldwork and collaboration in France.
