About the Department

UCLA’s Department of Art offers a dynamic curriculum that encourages exploration across various artistic disciplines. The variable topics courses available for teaching include:

  • Art 132: Undergraduate Survey of Critical Thought, covering premodern, modern, and postmodern theory with an emphasis on critical writing and artistic frameworks.
  • Art 276: Graduate Group Critique, facilitating discussions of student work in an open group setting, led by faculty and visiting artists.
  • Art C280: Graduate Seminar focusing on advanced topics in critical theory and contemporary art, exploring methodologies and individual issues.

Responsibilities

Lecturers in this pool may be called upon to teach courses in these varied topics as needed, contributing to both undergraduate and graduate-level education.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is required; a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) is preferred.
