Course Description

The Design Communication Arts program encompasses a wide array of topics, including:

  • Graphic Design
  • Branding
  • Design Thinking
  • Digital Illustration
  • Publication Design
  • Advertising Design
  • Motion Graphics
  • Adobe Software

Classes are available in both online and in-person formats, allowing for flexible learning experiences. Each course lasts 11 weeks and is limited to 20 students to ensure a personalized educational environment.

Instructor Responsibilities

As an instructor, you will be expected to:

  • Develop and update course syllabi in collaboration with the UCLA Extension Program Director.
  • Use your subject-matter expertise to engage students and enhance the curriculum with additional resources.
  • Design interactive classroom activities that foster student engagement.
  • Regularly monitor and update course materials based on evaluations and student feedback.
  • Maintain open communication with students and program staff, addressing inquiries and classroom needs promptly.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, including submitting syllabi and managing course logistics.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio showcasing innovative design solutions and relevant industry experience (3+ years preferred).
  • Previous college-level or continuing education teaching experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology and online teaching tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in curriculum design and student assessment is highly desirable.
