About NUS Cities

NUS Cities is a multidisciplinary platform dedicated to tackling the pressing challenges faced by urban areas today. The initiative is structured around three main pillars:

  1. Education: Preparing future urban planners and practitioners through a robust, case-based approach that combines academic rigor with practical insights.
  2. Research: Adopting a systems approach to address significant urban challenges, gradually developing a comprehensive “Science of Cities.”
  3. Advisory: Providing strategic advisory services to organizations and municipalities while fostering partnerships with universities and research institutions worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Fellow (NUS Cities), your responsibilities will include:

  • Database Management: Establishing and managing large databases to support ongoing research initiatives.
  • Data Analysis: Interpreting and analyzing data to generate actionable insights relevant to urban studies.
  • Reporting: Creating reports and presentations for various stakeholders based on research findings.
  • Academic Contributions: Assisting in the preparation of conference presentations and papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop new research ideas and ensure the successful and timely completion of projects.

Qualifications

Candidates interested in this position should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A doctorate degree in a relevant field.
  • Research Interest: A strong interest in urban studies, particularly in areas such as:
    • Climate Resilience
    • Ageing and Health
    • Transportation and Land Use
    • Urban Observatory
  • Publication Record: At least three recent and relevant journal papers related to the aforementioned modules.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Resourcefulness, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive organizational culture.
