Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is seeking a Senior Design & Construction Project Manager to join the Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Facilities Management Department. Role Overview
The Sr. Design & Construction Project Manager will oversee all phases of building design and construction for projects that can exceed $20 million. This role requires effective management of multiple projects with tight timelines, complex logistics, and fixed budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Lead new construction, renovation, and fit-out projects, ensuring they meet the established budget, schedule, and scope.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various units within the Bloomberg Facilities Management Department and represent the university to external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Customer Service: Provide exemplary service by actively managing project updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring timely communication with client representatives.
- Project Initiation and Design: Review program requirements, develop milestone schedules, and prepare Requests for Proposals for various project needs.
- Budget Oversight: Establish and monitor project budgets, manage cash flow projections, and approve invoices and change orders.
- Construction Management: Ensure adherence to design standards, monitor construction activities, and manage project logistics.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least ten years of construction or project management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of design and construction practices, including contract administration, insurance requirements, and relevant laws.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools, including MS Office and AutoCAD.
Work Environment and Benefits
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site presence 3-4 days a week. The starting salary range is $84,700 to $148,300 annually, based on experience. JHU also provides a comprehensive benefits package that supports employee health, life, and career development.
