Position Overview
Key Responsibilities:
As an Architect in the Planning, Design & Construction (PD&C) team, you will play a crucial role in managing both major and minor capital projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and Design: Engage in planning, space analysis, and design development for various projects, ensuring alignment with the Bloomberg School’s capital plans and strategic initiatives.
- Technical Oversight: Evaluate existing architectural systems and provide recommendations for design improvements, ensuring all work adheres to university standards and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, including staff and external consultants, to develop and document design standards that reflect best practices in architecture.
- Quality Assurance: Review construction progress to ensure quality and compliance with contract documents, resolving any discrepancies that arise during construction.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (Master’s preferred).
- At least 10 years of experience in architectural planning and design.
- A valid Professional Architect license in Maryland or a state with reciprocity.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA compliance, and sustainable design practices.
Preferred Skills:
- LEED Accreditation is desirable.
- Proficiency in BIM software, SketchUp, PhotoShop, and other graphic design tools.
Work Environment and Benefits
The position is hybrid, requiring on-site presence 3-4 days a week. JHU offers a competitive starting salary range of $84,700 to $148,300 annually, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that supports employees’ health, life, and career development.
