Are you a passionate researcher in the field of environmental science? University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking a Research Scientist for an exciting part-time position (0.6FTE) within the School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy. This role is part of the innovative EU project WaterLANDS, which focuses on enhancing wetland restoration efforts across Europe.
About the WaterLANDS Project
WaterLANDS aims to upscale the restoration of wetlands, leveraging water-based solutions to benefit both people and the environment. The project is a collaborative effort involving 32 organizations across 14 European countries, including research institutions, industry partners, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. By working closely with local communities and stakeholders, WaterLANDS seeks to create best practice models that ensure social, economic, and environmental benefits from wetland restoration.
Key Responsibilities
As a Research Scientist in this project, you will:
Collaborate with a core management team at UCD, including project coordinators.
Contribute to the hands-on restoration of specific wetland sites.
Assist in developing and implementing best practice models for wetland management.
Attend offsite events and meetings, which may involve travel across Europe.

Benefits of the Position
This part-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from €45,000 to €57,000 per annum, pro-rated based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile project that has a significant impact on environmental sustainability.
