ETH Zurich, one of the world’s leading universities in science and technology, is thrilled to announce two full-time doctoral fellowships in its Architecture & Technology (A&T) Doctoral Programme. This is a remarkable opportunity for aspiring researchers to join a vibrant community of over 50 international doctoral students, starting on October 1, 2025.

About the A&T Doctoral Programme

The A&T Doctoral Programme is an interdisciplinary platform dedicated to training scholars in the integration of technology and architecture. Managed collaboratively by the chairs of the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA), the program emphasizes innovative research and teaching practices.

Participants will engage in projects that encompass a wide range of topics, including:

  • Computational design of buildings and structures
  • Digital and robotic construction and fabrication
  • Building processes and systems
  • Preservation of construction heritage

This fellowship not only offers a rich educational experience but also positions graduates for successful careers in both academia and industry.

Key Details of the Fellowship

Funding and Duration

The fellowships are fully funded for 3.5 years, providing a competitive salary based on ETH Zurich’s standard rates. This financial support allows candidates to focus entirely on their research without the burden of financial stress.

Research Focus

Candidates will be required to select one of the involved professorships aligned with their research interests. These include:

  • Architecture and Digital Fabrication
  • Architecture and Structures
  • Digital Building Technologies

Each selected applicant will primarily associate with their chosen professorship while benefiting from the program’s interdisciplinary nature.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The A&T Doctoral Programme seeks candidates who possess:

  • A Master’s degree (e.g., MSc, MEng, or MArch) in architecture, engineering, or related fields.
  • A strong foundation in both architecture and technology, showcasing a blend of technical skills and creative thinking.
  • Proficiency in English, as it is the official language of the program.
