About the Role

The selected candidate will engage in cutting-edge research aimed at developing advanced predictive methods for ship performance in various sea conditions. This position is part of a collaborative project with SINTEF Ocean and Norwegian industrial partners, providing a rich environment for academic and practical learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in ship performance modeling using a blend of traditional and AI-based methods.
  • Complete coursework related to the project, including topics such as hydrodynamics, ship propulsion, and machine learning.
  • Participate in scientific communication through writing articles and attending conferences.

Qualifications

Required Criteria

Candidates must possess:

  • A relevant background in marine technology, naval architecture, computer science, physics, or applied mathematics.
  • A Master’s degree corresponding to a five-year Norwegian degree program.
  • A strong academic record, with a minimum average grade of B or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.

Preferred Skills

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of shipping operations and ship hydrodynamics.
  • Experience with machine learning and statistical data analysis.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
