About NUS Cities

NUS Cities is a multidisciplinary platform focused on addressing the pressing challenges faced by urban areas today, including climate change, aging populations, and social disruptions. The initiative operates under three main pillars:

  1. Education: Training the next generation of urban planners and practitioners using a case-based approach.
  2. Research: Taking a systems approach to tackle significant urban challenges and gradually developing a “Science of Cities.”
  3. Advisory: Providing strategic advisory services to organizations and cities, while collaborating with local and international partners.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant (Business Title: Associate, NUS Cities), you will be responsible for:

  • Database Management: Establishing and managing databases to support ongoing research.
  • Data Analysis: Interpreting and analyzing data to derive actionable insights.
  • Collaborative Research: Assisting across various teams and projects simultaneously.
  • Academic Contributions: Helping generate conference presentations and papers for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Project Support: Collaborating with research Principal Investigators (PIs) to ensure timely project completion.

Qualifications

Candidates interested in this role should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Background: A minimum Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Research Interest: A keen interest in urban studies, particularly in areas such as:
    • Climate Resilience
    • Ageing and Health
    • Transportation and Land Use
    • Urban Observatory
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Resourcefulness, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive organizational culture.
