ETH Zurich is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Professorship of Architecture and Building Systems. This role focuses on the innovative study of thermal and visual comfort in advanced building envelope systems, offering a unique chance to contribute to cutting-edge research.

Position Overview

Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Thermal/Visual Comfort

Start Date: October 2024
The project explores Solskin, a climate-adaptive building envelope system designed to enhance energy efficiency while providing optimal thermal and visual comfort. This ambitious research aims to develop AI-based controls for the façade system to adapt in real-time to varying user needs and environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your main tasks will include:

Conducting literature reviews to identify key parameters for thermal and visual comfort.
Designing and implementing field studies to gather data on user experiences and comfort levels.
Collaborating with a team to develop a virtual environment for simulating different façade systems and their impacts.
Analyzing and visualizing data from surveys and sensor measurements, and preparing comprehensive reports for project partners.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should possess:

A PhD in architecture, architectural engineering, or a related field.
Experience in thermal and visual comfort analysis and conducting field studies.
Familiarity with VR technology or similar computational tools.
Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus).
A passion for bridging research and practical applications in a dynamic environment.
