About the Position
This doctoral research project is part of the Circular Materials Bioeconomy Network (CIMANET), an interdisciplinary initiative aiming to advance the bio-based industry through new sustainable materials and processes. The project will explore the chemical modification and micro/nanostructuring of lignocellulosic surfaces to develop materials with hydrophobic properties—ideal for applications such as water-repellency and anti-fogging.
Key Responsibilities
As a Doctoral Researcher, you will:
- Conduct research in the field of soft matter chemistry and physics.
- Develop and characterize lignocellulosic materials designed for enhanced water-repellent properties.
- Engage in materials design, chemical surface modification, and wetting characterization.
- Collaborate closely with Finnish industries interested in innovative, water-repellent forest products.
- Utilize imaging techniques and programming languages like MATLAB and Python to support your research.
Qualifications
Candidates should have:
- A Master’s degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field.
- A strong interest in surface chemistry and surface characterization.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English (Finnish is not required).
- Experience in programming and a willingness to learn new methods.
