The Universidade do Minho in Portugal is excited to announce the opening of three research grant positions within the R&D Project “R2U Technologies | Modular Systems.” This initiative is funded by the PRR – Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência and supported by the Next Generation EU funds, under the “Agendas para a Inovação Empresarial” incentive system.

About the Research Grants

These research grants aim to advance knowledge and innovation in the fields of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering. The selected candidates will contribute to projects focusing on sustainable construction practices and innovative structural systems.

Key Details of the Positions

  • Start Date: The grants will commence on 9 October 2024.
  • Duration: Each grant will last for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal depending on project needs and compliance with regulations.

Candidate Profile

To be eligible for these research grants, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Mandatory Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
  • Enrollment in a relevant Master’s program or a non-degree course at a higher education institution at the time of hiring.

Preferential Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience will be prioritized:

  • Previous work in Life Cycle Analysis and sustainability assessment in construction.
  • Hands-on experience in experimental and laboratory work related to structural systems.
  • Skills in developing parametric design models or BIM models.
  • Familiarity with remote sensing techniques for building performance assessment.
  • Proficiency in English.

Benefits

Successful candidates will receive a Monthly Maintenance Allowance of €1,259.64, along with additional benefits such as reimbursement for voluntary social insurance and personal accident insurance.
