Position Overview
Key Details:
- Job Title: Technical Officer – Jewellery
- Location: Paddington, NSW
- Work Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
- Remuneration: Level 5 salary between $85,717 – $96,991, with potential for Level 6 for the right candidate ($100,354 – $107,054) plus 17% superannuation.
The Technical Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Jewellery Studio, ensuring a safe and effective workshop environment for students, staff, and researchers. This position is based on-campus, requiring face-to-face interaction and supervision.
Responsibilities
As a Technical Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising all users of the Jewellery Studio and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Providing technical advice and guidance on materials and processes.
- Planning and conducting training sessions and demonstrations for students.
- Maintaining and servicing workshop equipment, ensuring everything is in working order.
- Managing inventory, including ordering and replenishing consumables.
Level 6 Responsibilities (if applicable):
- Utilizing Resource Management Systems (RMS) for scheduling workshop resources.
- Liaising with industry suppliers for materials and equipment needs.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to meet their technical requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A relevant trade certificate or tertiary degree, along with extensive experience in a technical role.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of jewellery and metal smithing processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative working environment.
- Experience in an educational workshop setting is highly desirable.
