Job Title: Research Fellow (NUS Cities)

Contract Duration: 1 to 2 years, with the possibility of renewal

About NUS Cities

NUS Cities serves as a multidisciplinary platform focusing on the development of liveable, sustainable, and resilient urban environments. It encompasses three main pillars:

  1. Education: Training future urban planners and practitioners to adopt an urban systems approach.
  2. Research: Addressing major urban challenges through innovative research and gradually developing a comprehensive Science of Cities.
  3. Advisory: Providing strategic advisory services to organizations and cities, partnering with local and international universities and research institutions.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for:

  • Database Management: Establishing and managing large databases pertinent to urban research.
  • Data Analysis: Interpreting and analyzing data to generate meaningful insights.
  • Reporting: Creating reports and presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Research Collaboration: Contributing to multiple research projects and collaborating closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop new research ideas.
  • Publication: Preparing conference presentations and papers for submission to peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: A Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
  • Research Interest: Keen interest in urban studies, particularly in areas such as:
    • Climate Resilience
    • Ageing and Health
    • Transportation and Land Use
    • Urban Observatory
  • Publication Record: At least three recent and relevant journal papers in the aforementioned areas.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Personal Attributes: Resourceful, adaptable, and capable of multitasking effectively.
