The National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking candidates for the position of Adjunct Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Architecture. This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering urban research that addresses some of the most pressing challenges faced by cities today.
About the Position
As urbanization accelerates globally, the need for liveable, sustainable, and resilient cities has never been more critical. The Adjunct Senior Research Fellow will play a vital role in establishing the Urban Observatory (UO) for Singapore, a foundational initiative aimed at advancing Urban Science research. This observatory will create essential data and platforms that foster collaboration among the research community, public sector, and private entities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will engage in a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Building Cloud-Based Data & Services: Contributing to the development of a robust cloud infrastructure for the Urban Observatory.
- Conceptualizing Prototypes: Designing and prototyping a minimal viable product for the UO, including assessing features based on product demand.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Developing models for meaningful stakeholder engagement to promote collaboration and data sharing.
- Business Model Development: Crafting a viable business model to ensure the sustainability of the UO operations and maintenance.
- System Architecture: Creating a roadmap for implementing the Urban Observatory.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience: At least 8 years of postgraduate experience with evidence of significant contributions in urban studies or related disciplines.
Candidates with a strong interest in urban studies and a desire to explore the potential of an Urban Observatory are especially encouraged to apply.
