The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is seeking a talented Research Fellow/Engineer specializing in Structural Engineering, Hydrodynamics, or Naval Architecture. Key Responsibilities

As part of the Centre for Coastal Protection and Flood Resilience (CFI), the successful candidate will:

  • Participate in an industry innovation research project focused on developing a multi-purpose floating breakwater integrated with renewable energy solutions like solar, wave, and tidal energy.
  • Conduct Finite Element Method (FEM) modeling using software such as Ansys or ABAQUS to ensure the structural robustness of the floating breakwater.
  • Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software (e.g., Star CCM or Fluent) to analyze wave behavior.
  • Perform mooring analysis and design an effective mooring system.
  • Conduct stability analysis to ensure seaworthiness and conduct fluid-structure interaction studies under wave action.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including structural engineers, hydrodynamic researchers, coastal engineers, and marine scientists.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following:

  • A PhD in a relevant field, focusing on structural engineering, hydrodynamics, or naval architecture.
  • Proficiency in wave modeling software and strong analytical skills.
  • Research experience in offshore structural design is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
