The Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is excited to announce an opening for a Research Fellow / Engineer specializing in Architecture, Building Technology, and Mechanical Engineering. About the Position

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT focuses on research that closely aligns with industry needs. This role will involve working on a cutting-edge project aimed at developing and optimizing advanced urban farming units. The research will encompass various aspects, including architectural design, airflow assessment, and passive design strategies for daylighting.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PIs, and research team members to manage and deliver on project milestones.
  • Prepare procurement documentation for necessary equipment and materials.
  • Co-supervise final year project students in conjunction with faculty.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with vendors for equipment training and maintenance.
  • Engage in both independent and team-based work to maintain equipment and support urban farming module development.
  • Liaise with local industry partners and international collaborators, such as Tohoku University in Japan, to integrate innovative technologies into the project.

Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • A degree in architecture, building science, mechanical engineering, or related fields. A Master’s or PhD will be advantageous.
  • Relevant experience in architecture and/or sustainable building design.
  • Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, preferably ANSYS FLUENT, along with experience in meshing tools and post-processing software.
  • An interest in urban farming and plant growth, particularly in relation to architectural applications.
