About the Role

As a Research Assistant, you will be involved in a range of exciting activities aimed at understanding and optimizing urban airflow. Your contributions will be critical in developing innovative solutions to enhance air quality and thermal comfort in urban settings.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Wind Tunnel Operations: Setting up and operating wind tunnel equipment for experiments focused on urban airflow modelling.
  • Conducting Experiments: Performing wind tunnel experiments and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze urban airflow.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzing experimental and simulation data, summarizing key findings, and collaborating with team members to design experiments and develop methodologies.
  • Research Documentation: Assisting in the preparation of research proposals, technical reports, and scientific publications.
  • Project Support: Supervising undergraduate students and managing project-related administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Candidates interested in this position should meet the following qualifications:

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CFD simulation software is essential. Experience in conducting wind tunnel or water tunnel experiments is a plus.
  • Research Skills: A strong passion for research, with the ability to conduct work semi-independently.
  • Communication Skills: Fluency in English, with the capability to present research findings to both academic and general audiences.
  • Additional Experience: Programming skills and familiarity with AI/machine learning are advantageous. Candidates with a good publication record and those planning to pursue a PhD will be prioritized.
