Appointment Type: Full-time, one-year contract (with the possibility of renewal)

About NUS Cities

NUS Cities is a multidisciplinary platform that focuses on creating liveable, sustainable, and resilient urban environments. The initiative is structured around three pillars:

  1. Education: Training the next generation of urban planners and practitioners using a systems approach.
  2. Research: Conducting comprehensive research to tackle significant urban challenges and gradually developing a Science of Cities.
  3. Advisory: Offering strategic advisory services to organizations and cities, collaborating with local and international partners.

Key Responsibilities

As a Research Assistant, you will:

  • Database Management: Establish and manage databases for various research projects.
  • Data Analysis: Interpret and analyze quantitative data, utilizing relevant software and visualization tools.
  • Research Support: Assist in generating presentations and papers for conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
  • Collaboration: Work across teams on multiple research projects, ensuring timely completion.
  • Additional Tasks: Support Principal Investigators in various project-related tasks.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Education: A minimum Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Interests: Candidates with interests in urban studies, particularly in areas such as:
    • Climate Resilience
    • Ageing and Health
    • Transportation and Land Use
    • Urban Observatory
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Personal Attributes: A resourceful, self-driven individual who can multitask effectively and contribute positively to an organizational culture.
